Ladies suffer defeat to Senior Champions (Sunday 10-May-2009)
Fulham Irish 0-03 Fr Murphys 4-11
In a game played in glorious sunshine at Greenford, a tough battle ensued for the full match as the Fulham Irish girls doggedly kept the challenge for the ball going only succumbing to the superior finishing touch of the Fr Murphys girls.
The game started with Fr Murphys dominating, scoring a goal through Sinead Daly and points from Shauna Keogh, Claire Towey and a pair from Shauna McMenamin before Leah Horan registered a point for Fulham. Fulham Irish settled into the game and made several attacks without taking a score before Michelle Murphy scored another point for Fulham Irish. Keogh got a goal and a point and Towey fired a point to leave the half time score 0-02 to 2-06.
The second half was end to end stuff but again the Fulham Irish girls did not convert their chances into scores while Fr Murphys did convert, scoring another 2-05 while Fulham only had a point from Norma Kearney to report.
In a game that will stand the girls in good stead for the rest of the year, as well as those mentioned Olivia Walsh, Leah Williams, Blatnaid Farrell, Rebecca Taylor, Jessica Hyde and Kate O'Brien had good games for Fulham Irish.
