Ladies get Championship campaign off to winning start (Saturday 13-June-2009)
 Fulham Irish 9-10 Clonbony 3-01
On a sunny morning at Greenford, Fulham Irish Ladies got their Championship campaign off to winning start as they proved too strong for a battling Clonbony side.
A quick start by the Fulham girls saw Niamh Kelly fire over a point and Leah Horan score a goal inside 3 minutes. Clonbony worked the ball down field with full forward, Catherine Byrne, crashing the ball to the net after an initial save by Brigid Doyle. The Fulham girls immediately attacked, releasing Horan to score her second goal. For the next 23 minutes Fulham Irish would dominate the game and the chances, creating 14 scoring chances but only converting 4 of them, 2 points from Norma Kearney, a point for Horan and a fine goal from Blathnaid Farrell, breaking from the half back line. Clonbony finished the half strongly, getting down the field and creating goals for Marie Walsh and Michelle Walsh. Michelle Murphy scored a point for Fulham Irish before Marina Quinlan ended the half with a shot to the net, to leave the half time score 4-05 to 3-00.
Fulham Irish again started the half strongly, taking points through Murphy and Horan. Clonbony added a point to their tally before the Fulham Irish girls took over domination of the possession, scoring five goals, 2 each for Murphy and Horan and 1 for Kearney. They also added 4 points, one each for Horan, Kearney and Murphy and fine effort from industrious midfielder, Sarah Allen.
As well as those mentioned, Paula Cuinnea, Olivia Walsh and Rebecca Taylor had good games for Fulham Irish while Sheila Sexton, Fiona Tuohy-hoy and Lorraine Rynne tried hard for Clonbony.
