Ladies suffer League defeat    (Monday 12-October-2009)

Fulham Irish 1-03 Kingdom/Kerry Gaels 5-13

At a cool and breezy Greenford on Sunday morning, Fulham Irish Ladies completed their season with a battling performance against Kingdom/Kerry Gaels.

With numbers available restricted to 12 players, this game was played with plenty of space available to suit the running style game of the Kingdom/Kerry Gaels girls who proved the stronger throughout the contest.

The Fulham Irish scorers were Laura Maguire with 2 points, Norma Kearney with a point and a delightfully finished penalty from Leah Horan after Maguire had been rugby tackled in the square.

Brigid Doyle pulled off some fine saves while the defence continued to battle to stem the tide of attack as Blathnaid Farrell, Olivia Walsh, Marina Quinlan, Rachel Ryan, Breege Doherty and Eimear Sinnott carried the figth through the entire game. Sarah Allen and Paula Cuinnea never stopped running in midfield but ultimately the team were overpowered.

Team: B Doyle, E Sinnott, B Farrell, R Ryan, B Doherty, O Walsh, M Quinlan, S Allen, P Cuinnea, L Horan, N Kearney, L Maguire
