St Brendans defeated in Reserve Championship (Sunday 2-August-2009)

In a relatively one sided game at Greenford on Saturday, Fulham Irish
reserves ran out impressive winners against St Brendans.
Fielding a team that included current senior squad players and stars from the last few years, Fulham Irish took a 2-10 to 0-04 first half lead, all the St Brendans scores coming from midfielder, Paul McCormick. Brian O'Reilly playing a free role from corner forward popped up to score 3 early points. Tiarnan O'Rourke chipped in with a pair of points as he found the spaces. Good play in the 17th minute saw Barry Basquille released to score a fine goal. Mark McElroy popped up to score a point soon after before John Enright, with a pair, Conor O'Callaghan and Peter Burke added minors. With the half coming to a close, Stephen O'Flaherty stole in to net.
The second half saw more of the same with the Fulham Irish lads creating most of the best chances but more importantly converting them as they went. In the opening ten minutes of the half, Basquille helped himself to another 3 points, Flaherty added 1-01 and O'Rourke fired over a minor.
With the game in the bag, Fulham Irish sent on 5 substitutes and as they tuned into the game, St Brendans had their most productive spell adding 1-02 to the tally, McCormick with the points and Gareth Logue with the goal.
Now back in the groove, Fulham Irish took over again, adding another 1-07 to board, Ollie McKinley and O'Rourke with a pair of points each, 1-02 for Basquille and a point each for Ryan O'Neill and O'Flaherty. Eddie Young and Simon Tulley scored points for St Brendans during this period.
In a strong team performance, as well as those mentioned, Barney McCusker, Paul O'Riordan, Mark McVey, Tommy Pierce, John Teahan and Stephen Kelly had good games for Fulham Irish.
