Reserve lose out in league    (Wednesday 1-July-2009)

Fulham Irish 0-13 Tound Towers 4-11

Following 8 consecutive wins in matches against Round Towers, 5 of those wins coming in Mitcham, Round Towers were in determined mood not to let the sequence continue as they put in a powerful display to overcome the Fulham Irish Reserves.

Winning the toss and deciding to play with the breeze, Round Towers started strongly and raced into an early lead, Sean Maguire at the centre of all their good work. The first half saw plenty of good football, the breaks going the way of the Towers as they raced to a 2-07 to 0-03 half time lead.

A couple of substitutions for Fulham Irish together with some positional changes saw a much improved performance in the second half but the goal chances created never materialised as Round Towers defended their goal in numbers. Conceding two more goals early in the half effectively ended the game but the lads continued to play good approach football but were never going to stem the tide.

Fergus O'Domhnaill, Paraic Curtis, Barry McCaffrey, John Enright and Kevin McElroy played best for Fulham Irish while Charlie O'Hagan, John Prendargast, Ollie Bennett, John Devine and Niall Connery excelled for Round Towers.

Team: B McCusker, W Fogarty(K O'Neill), B Dolan(C O'Kane), F O'Domhnaill, P Curtis, S Casey, P O'Riordain(R Den Hartog), A Davidson, B McCaffrey, R O'Neill(L Frawley), K McElroy, J Enright, K Gartlan(J Ward), D Newell, H Ahern
