Fulham Irish Ladies reach Tom O'Connor final    (Sunday 12-July-2009)

Fulham Irish 6-16 Claddagh Gaels 1-05

At a blustery Greenford on Sunday afternoon, Fulham Irish won the toss and set about running up a big score with the advantage of the win. Early points from Kate O'Brien, Norma Kearney and Marina Quinlan gave the Fulham Irish girls a flying start before Claddagh Gaels struck for a goal in the 9th minute. Working the ball down field almost immediately, Leah Horan was released to score her first gol of the game. More good play involving Sarah Allen, Jessica Hyde and Kearney, saw Hyde add another goal in the 12th minute. Quinland added another point before a couple of goal chances were spurned by Horan and Hyde respectively. Horan added 4 more points in quick succession, two coming from frees for fouls on Grace Foley and Quinlan. Hyde added a point before Horan scored her 2nd goal. Another goal followed for Quinlan as the kick out fell short and she banged it to the net. The half finished with a fine point for Allen.

Making 5 substitutions and now playing against the breeze, scoring chances were hard to come by in the second half. While conceding 5 points, the Fulham Irish girls created 9 chances, scoring 7. A goal for Horan 1-02 for Hyde and 3 points for Kearney being the return as the game drew to its conclusion.
