Fulham Irish qualify for Tipperary Cup semi final (Sunday 17-May-2009)
 Fulham Irish 1-11 Tara 0-10
Played with a gale blowing down the field, Fulham Irish won the toss
and played with the wind in the first half. Starting brightly, Fulham
Irish took a 0-03 point lead, 2 points coming for Brendan Quinn and
one for Marty Hughes, only playing as he could not travel with the
London squad due to work reasons. Tara registered their first point
after neat play in the 7th minute, Joe Harte firing over the bar. A
point from Barry McCaffrey followed before a period of play where
defences were on top.
Scoring resumed on 16 minutes, Quinn helping himself to another point after Diarmaid Maher was fouled. Brian O'Reilly stepped up to score 2 fine points late in half before Cathal Murphy scored a free for Tara, to leave the scores 0-07 to 0-02 in favour of Fulham Irish.
Hughes fisted over a point to extend the lead on the restart before Tara worked the ball down field, drawing a free which was converted by Murphy. Quinn added another point following good work by McCaffrey and O'Reilly. Tara dominated the play assisted by the wind for the next 10 minutes, scoring three points from five chances created, Harte providing 2 of the scores. A foul on Barry Basquille gave Quinn the chance free chance to register another point for the Fulham Irish men. The game clincher followed 2 minutes later when Hughes fought past a couple of tackles before hitting the back of the Tara net. Basquille followed up with a fine point just before Derek Sheridan pulled off a point blank save, putting the ball behind for a 45 which was duly converted by Murphy. The game ended with another brace of points for Tara through Harte and Murphy.
As well as those mentioned, Fergus O'Domhnaill, John Fitzgerald, Harry Murphy and Mark McElroy had good games for Fulham Irish while Robert Whelan, Darren Gallagher and David Owens done well for Tara.
